Scriptures relevant to today’s posting…
35 “The tenants seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned a third. 36 Then he sent other servants to them, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them the same way. 37 Last of all, he sent his son to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said.
Matt. 21: 35-37 (NIV)
In today’s scripture reference I am using an excerpt from The Parable of the Tenants once again. In verse 35 & 40 Jesus uses two terms that represent two different archetypes of people—two opposing archetypes—tenants and servants; today let’s take a closer look at who these archetypes might represent in the present-day world. To get things started, let’s look at an interview a liberal reporter had with a right-winged person on the question of why she hates President Obama. As we read today’s post I would like you to keep a question in the back of your mind: What is the truth; how do we get past the spin about something (someone) in order to get at the truth about it (them)?
“I hate President Obama. Completely against him,” she said.
This prompted me to simply ask, “Why?”
“I think Obama is a lazy horrible excuse for a president. He’s playing golf while our citizens are being killed…he holds a press conference for some thug who got shot because he assaulted a police officer, yet I don’t see any press conference about Christians being slaughtered, or Jews being killed for anti-Semitic reasons. He’s a schmuck and the ONLY reason that he was elected the first time was because he’s black, and either black people voted for him or white people didn’t wanna seem racist. And the reason he’s still president is because of voter fraud. I’d LOVE to see them require id’s for votes, because I guarantee he wouldn’t still be around.”

This sort of a response is hate-based and, when even a little bit of research is done the things she claims about Obama are unsubstantiated. So when all is said and done, this lady had been preconditioned to hate Obama and was therefore ready and eager to hear any and all negative rhetoric about him. Why does she hate him? It doesn’t necessarily hinge on the fact that he’s black; it’s more to do with his liberal sensibilities, ideas and goals. As a conservatist she has been conditioned to hate liberals because she has been lead to believe that liberals/progressives are, by their very nature, enemies of real Americans who are, of course, conservative in their views and beliefs. This conditioning comes by way of the propaganda mills such as Fox News; Rush Limbaugh and the rest of the conservative talk radio pundit crowd. Here’s another quote from Mr. Clifton:
Being that I’m in Texas, most of the people I encounter are Republicans. And believe me when I say that telling a conservative that I’m a progressive is probably less popular than if I had just told them I was a drug kingpin who primarily focuses on selling crystal meth.

So if you look for a pattern in why people (like this lady Allen Clifton interviewed) are so against powerful people like President Obama; it’s a short journey to the real reason. If you look at the lady’s answer it’s not grounded in facts, it’s founded upon innuendo and hearsay and that seems to be plenty good enough for them. If the rest of their conservatist cronies are talking smack about Obama then they are all in. They don’t want to have to think or reason about what they are saying; they are only concerned that they have enough of the propaganda rhetoric memorized to put up a good show which makes them sound like they know what they’re talking about. The thing which separates the conservatists from people like Obama most often is their liberal/progressive views. They know how to identify these liberals because the fear/hate-mongers from the conservatist talk airwaves keep them up-to-date with who they are and what evils they have committed! At the end of the day, this lady and all those just like her don’t have a political opinion of their own. The exact same situation exists in the world of denominational religion. In the following text from Matthew 27 depicting the trial of Jesus, notice how logic and reason is chased out and the persuasive influence of propaganda turns the crowd against Jesus. Keep in mind that many of those who were in this crowd were the same ones who greeted Jesus waving palms and shouting hosannas to him only a few days before this.
15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to releasing to the multitude one prisoner whom they wished.
17 …Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”
20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.
22 Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?”
They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”
23 Then the governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?”
But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let Him be crucified!”
25 And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.”
26 Then he [Pilate] released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.
Matt. 27: 15-26 (KJV)
The 2nd link takes us to a much more recent interview between Rachael Maddow and Hillary Clinton. In the interview Rachael asks Clinton why did people, even women who were former Democrats claim to mistrust her? In her answer Hillary points to 2 things that are germane to our conversation today: 1) She alludes to the relentless yet unfounded accusations leveled against her concerning the Ben Ghazi incident and 2) She cites other similar incidents which occurred under both the Bush and Reagan administrations which garnered no such political reprisals from the Democrats. The point I am going for is that conservatists seem to carry with them an energy of fear and hate that drives them to think, say and do things in the service of evil rather than in the service of truth and God. Going back to the 1st scripture reference, Matt. 21: 35-37 (NIV), who do the tenants represent and who do the servants represent—conservatists or liberals—which is which?
